In celebration of International Education Week, Korea WEST (Work English Study Travel) program participants recently visited fourth grade classes at an elementary school in Alexandria, VA with program sponsor Cultural Vistas.
American students were eager to learn about Korean culture, customs, cuisine, and language, while WEST participants learned about the American educational system firsthand.
Participants discussed topics ranging from Korean history, to “Gangnam Style”, and Korean greetings.
The well-prepared students asked many questions about the Korean system of government, and the name of the Korean president’s residence.
Laughter could be heard up and down the halls as the students and teachers played Korean games and sang Korean songs.
One WEST participant reflected, “I’ll never forget this event. [This] was the best class I’ve ever met!”
